Adjust my Dreams for me

Years later, in late 2025, Bret Easton Ellis's statement that would become the title of this post was proven to be correct. When it comes to our dreams, our brain often produces memories and events that we can hardly grasp when we wake up.

It's kind of weird — during the last bank holiday, I had three consecutive nights where I dreamed lots of random stuff that left me feeling confused and reflective when I woke up. Okay, we all dream, but we're told that we mostly don't remember our dreams. These memories were often incoherent, shaggy and – sometimes – even erotic.

Why do we dream about people we last saw two decades ago? What creates the impression that a former girlfriend has appeared out of nowhere and turned/merged into a current business contact? Is it a predictive dream when I dream that the guys I'm going to travel to Norway with and I are climbing steep walls? And why does our mind revive childhood memories just to be so cruel as to push them back into the void upon waking without the slightest forewarning?

There's no plan for that when you're triggered directly from your subconscious mind. Nothing special happened: You aren't tired or anything like that, and yet, out of nowhere, you have those memory fragments (and experiences) for three consecutive and confusing days. There is no explanation or solution for how to really deal with these, and oneiromancy isn’t my area of expertise... yet!

What do your dreams look like, and how do you deal with the memories of them?
