There are still some hours left to prevent your LinkedIn-data being used for AI-training

It’s the same old story – sooner or later, one service after another succumbs to AI. This time it's LinkedIn, acquired by Microsoft back in 2016, which has announced that user data will be used for AI-based training from November 3rd onwards. Fortunately, there are still a few hours left to voice your disagreement with this move.

The FAQ updated two months ago tell the whole story and, as we all know, an opt-out is needed because Microsoft assumes that switching this setting „on“ by default is simply okay. For members in the European Union including Switzerland and UK, LinkedIn will be making an update to its European Regional Privacy Notice to address LinkedIn’s use of data from tomorrow to include information about how it uses and share your data for content generating AI model training. Additionally, if you are located in one of those countries or areas your personal information will officially not be made available to certain LinkedIn affiliates (such as Microsoft!) for training generative AI models without further notice once you opt out – at least Microsoft and LinkedIn say so.

Although there isn’t much time left, you still can switch to the official URL in your account settings and disable the option – just to be more or less sure that definitely no one tries to use your data for anything without your consent – THIS TIME (at least officially)!
